Music genre, history and iconography
History
The main genres featured in my magazine would be Hip Hop and grime. Hip-Hop, Commonly known as Rap, is a music genre formed in the United States in the 1970s that consists of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted. Grime is a genre of music that emerged in London in the early 2000s. It is primarily a development of UK garage and jungle. Grime revolves heavily around rapping from artists, and largely grown from iconic figures in the scene.
Iconography
There is no clear icon and characters which have influenced the whole Hip-Hop scene. Character such as DJ Kool Herc who is referred to as any as the creator of hip-hop in the new york bronks, coming from Caribbean immigrants, but Characters like JAY-Z and Kanye West may be seen by many as the creators of modern day hip-hop and rap. Dizee Rascal, Wiley, Kano and Lethal Bizzle were among the first to bring the genre to mainstream media attention in 2002/2004.
